t the end of April 1996, I read The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield, and it changed my life. It's an easy read but very hard to put down. However, there is so much more to it than that. Although Redfield says that it is an "adventure parable," many people who have read the story say that it has given them a new outlook on life and it has quite a large following throughout the world.
Have you noticed how many "coincidences" happen out there? Does it seem strange that they could all be "just coincidence" or are does it seem as if they are something more? Have you ever noticed that a beautiful sight, such as a sunrise, can make you feel full of warmth and love? Perhaps you've noticed that after a fight with another person, even if you win, you still feel drained. The Celestine Prophecy talks about nine insights to life, the first one being about how those "coincidences" are the beginning of a new realization for humankind. The book has been on the New York Times Best-Sellers List and has been translated into many languages. Although the book was written as an adventure parable to make its message come through easier, there are many people around the world that have read the book and had it change their lives. I am one of those people. To many people, including myself, the Insights are real and attainable. Many that have read it truly believe that the things mentioned it will come true and have even dedicated themselves to help them come true.
The book's sequel, The Tenth Insight, picks up where the first stopped. The hero from the first book returns to review the Nine Insights while also looking at how they affect the world. Redfield also introduces the reader to the idea of Birth Visions -- what our souls were planning when we chose to revisit this world.
Recently, Redfield launched his own website called The Celestine Vision and released a new book by the same name. The new book is not a parable like the other two. Instead, in The Celestine Vision, Redfield talks directly to the reader and tells us why he believes that the world is now going through this spiritual evolution.
Redfield's newest work is The Secret of Shambhala: In Search of the Eleventh Insight, but since I have not read it, I cannot tell you anything about it. When, and if, I do, I will tell you some more about it.
For more information on these and Redfield's books, please my spiritual reading page.
Another great spiritual book I read is Conversations with God: an uncommon dialogue by Neale Donald Walsch. The book is the result of several conversations that Walsch had with God and is also hard to put down.
