Dead and Buried: The Graveyard of Worcester's Blackstone Canal

The Blackstone Canal, with its flesh long rotted away and its skeleton sometimes visible, lies in an unmarked grave. This grave can be found under and among the streets of Worcester. Unfortunately, unless you know where to look, you are unlikely to find the Canal.

Starting in downtown Worcester where the basin area of the Canal once was, this tour will take you along the Worcester section of the Canal's graveyard. Along the way from the canal terminus between Thomas and Central Streets to its exit from Worcester near Rts. 146 & 20 at the Millbury line, you will find a variety of pictures. These pictures will give you a sense of the area and what to look for should you ever decide to go exploring yourself.

Each picture will include a description. To save on download time for each page, I have put a smaller version of the picture on the page. If you wish to see a larger version of the picture, then you may do by clicking on the picture.
