The Open Blackstone Canal

Today, there is only a small portion of the Canal that is exposed. This lone open section of the Canal is near Worcester's sewage treatment facility near the interchange of I-90 (the MassPike), U.S. Rt. 20, and Rt. 146.

	These pictures were taken from the west bound side of the Rt. 20 bridge. The pictures on the right focus on the canal itself. The picture below gives a close up of what was likely the tow path used by the horses pulling the canal boats up or down the Canal.

From here, the canal flows under Rt. 20 on its way out of Worcester. The canal, or the old canal bed in some places, winds its way in and out of the Blackstone River until its remains reach Providence.
